21 Oct – It did not take long for Brad Pitt's film, "Fury" to knock "Gone Girl" right off its throne in U.S. at last weekend's box office collection from 16 to 19 October 2014. Meanwhile in Malaysia, "Dracula Untold" climbed from second place to first and in Singapore, "Gone Girl" takes the lead.
Collecting USD23.7 million in its opening weekend, American war film, "Fury" starring Brad Pitt is the champion for last weekend's box office collection in the U.S, pushing the Ben Affleck starring "Gone Girl" that collected USD17.5 million down to second place.
In third place, the animated comedy film based on Mexican folklore, "The Book of Life" took in USD17.0 million last weekend.
Despite being controversial in Malaysia with no updates thus far from the local Film Censorship board for allegedly containing elements against Islamic beliefs, "Dracula Untold" jumped from second place to first place at last weekend's box office chart.
Meanwhile, the newly released Cantonese film, "Flirting in the Air" filled in for second place as the scares from "Annabelle" dies down from first to third place last week.
In Singapore, the psychological thriller "Gone Girl" had climbed from third place to first place at the weekend box office chart while "Dracula Untold" remained in second place. Lastly, Robert Downey Jr's drama film, "The Judge" lands at third place in its opening week.
Also opening in Malaysia last week; "Mistik Syirik Tahyul", "No Greater Love", "The Rooms", "Deepsea Challenge" and "Kristy".
Other new movies that opened in Singapore last week; "Nee Naan Nizhal", "Oka Laila Kosam", "Forrest Gump", "Killers", "Brotherhood of Blades", "Haemoo", "The Rewrite", "The Golden Era" and "The Drop".
